From 2009/02/16 to 2009/02/18 | -- From Luang Namtha to Huay Xai, border with Thailand |
The road tracklog |
|
The 15/02 was a short driving morning to head back to Luang Namtha to publish pages of my website and to lunch at the Boat Landing Restaurant. Then I moved towards the border stopping at the south of the city to bivouac peacefully. |

Lunch at the edge of Tha River |

The 16/02 was a quiet driving day up to Huay Xai at the edge of Mekong River where a ferry crosses it to go to Thailand. The road roved in the mountains by a very beautiful day on a road with a good coating whose some sections were under repair. While arriving at the target I took reference marks of immigration and customs as well as the cost of the ferry. Then I looked for a parking for the night that I found on a carpark behind a market. |
|
The 17/02 was the before last day in Laos. The border town does not offer any sights worthy of interest, except ae blow of heart in Wat Khonekeo Xaiyaram where a strange consultation of a monk took place hidden under a small tent! |

Port ferry passengers |

The last image of the communist Laos was a procession of monks at dawns to receive alms of food given by villagers in front of their house kneeling on bitumen thus they acquire merit for their reincarnation. |

The 18/02 I left Laos. As of the opening of the Immigration Office which is at the port
passenger ferry I made stamp my passport then I went to the port vehicle ferry
where the customs Office is to make fill the exportation voucher of
the Carnet de Passage en Douane. Finally I presented myself at the ferry for
the loading of which I had paid the cost, $36 (Thailand monopoly obliges) the
day before to book a place. |
