From the 2005/07/06 to the 2005/07/12 --From Oslo to Bergen, the southernmost coast of Norway

Before leaving Sweden, I visited the charming Roman church of Skee back to XIIth as well as the prehistoric site of Blomsholmsskeppet, trail of stone vestiges in open nature. An error of navigation made me take the toll road E6, consequently I did not see the bridge of Svinesundbron connecting the two countries.

At the Norwegian border, I stopped to collect information at the ad hoc office which advised to me to take Norwegian currency at the ACD due to two tolls to enter Oslo.

The town of Oslo is built on banks of Oslofjord, it is surrounded by wooded hills. On an advice of a German tourist, I went directly towards Holmenkollen, the international springboard of ski, to establish my camping at Tryvannstarnet close to the TV tower at the edge of a lake.
I do not have an imperishable memory of Oslo. Bicycle circulation is difficult, rare cycle tracks, sometimes battered streets. Architecture mixes old and modern buildings often without grace. The centre town is very tightened and gathers the majority of the museums. I visited Fram museum on the peninsula of Bygdol.

The southernmost coast was traversed in one day by taking the roads E18 and E39. I stopped in Arendal and in Flekkefjord to obtain information. On the indications of the  Tourist Information, I taken roads RV466 and RV42 to go to Lysebotn.

The day after the visit of Kjeragbolten, I moved towards Stavanger. The rainy morning dissuaded me to visit the city. I taken the ferry to Tau and went to Preikestolen which I visited in the afternoon during a lull.

Road RV13 from Sandnes to Voss skirts several fjords in northward direction. I traversed it from Jossang to Granvin in the early morning, when the low angle light comes to cherish the wave of the fjords. I acknowledge it, it is sublime. But the road is sometimes narrow. During the way I visited some natural sights.

Road RV7 was traversed to go to visit Voringsfossen then to Bergen after the ferry from Brimnes to Bruravik. It accepted the Turistveg label of the Norwegian authorities. It is true that the road is arranged better than the RV13 and the landscapes are more dramatic. But sometimes it is reduced to a single lane!

Bergen is certainly a pretty city but traffic is a true breakage head so much the one ways are erratic and the car parks are expensive. The old quarter of Bryggen, entirely renovated, is worth to visit. The fish and fruits market is a trap for tourists.

The road and the visits were prepared with the Guide du Routard and programmed with MapSource by Garmin. Moreover navigation was helped by two maps, the IGN of Norway and a map obtained at the Norwegian tourist office of Paris which gives the toll stations and the headroom of the tunnels.
