Pretoria

Monday, November 5 I left Pilanesberg NP for Pretoria, wiki here, where I arrived at the beginning of afternoon to install me for three days at Backpackers International.

Pretoria-1

Tuesday, November 6 I took Gautrain in Hatfield to go to visit the center of Pretoria and mainly Church Square, heart of Pretoria, which is surrounded by imposing buildings of the second half of the 19th century. In the center throne the statue of Paul Kruger, wiki here.

Pretoria-2

Wednesday, November 7 I took again Gautrain for the center of Pretoria in order to go to South Africa National Parks in the park of the University of South Africa at the bottom of Telkom Tower. Indeed I had not succeeded in carrying out by Internet the reservations of the camp sites in Kruger National Park. The way on foot from the station to the office and return including the time of the reservations lasted two hours. At the return I left in search of a postcard to send in France; it was a true play of track during more than one hour. Finally I took again the train to return to Backpackers International.

Centurion

Thursday, November 8 by leaving Backpackers International in Pretoria and before honoring the invitation by Marianne and Kobus friends of Marie-Jeanne I visited Voortrekker Monument, wiki here, which commemorates the great migration of the boers from 1830 to 1840, wiki here. In the ground floor a exhibit presents tapestries as well as laces manufactured on the spot. The reception by Marianne and Kobus in their house in Centurion was very cordial and was occasion to collect information for the continuation of my journey in Southern Africa. I bivouacked on the spot.

Piet Retief

Friday, November 9 I left my friends Marianne and Kobus to go to two stages in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. I stopped in Piet Retief at Waterside Lodge to spend the night.

Hluhluwe Backpacker

Saturday, November 10 I arrived at the end of the morning at Backpacker at 2.4 km from the entrance gate of the Hluhluwe park because there was no more place available in the camps. I undertook at once the visit of the park. The following day Sunday, November 11 as of 5:00 in the morning at the opening of the park I began my second visit by traversing 200 km in 12:00 to try to see lions and leopards without success.
