From 2004/05/14 to 2004/05/18

Five days were devoted to the convoying of the chassis by MAN from Bresse to UNICAT in Germany.
This page was written after back to Neuilly. It was updated to publish my various visits during the construction of my campervan.

Friday May 14, 2004 I took delivery of the MAN chassis at the MAN Bresse agency after a way by TGV from Paris to Bourg Bresse where a car of the agency awaited me.
After having signed some documents, I discovered the truck and saw how big it is.
The catch in hand was done with a MAN people by a short trip on the car park of the agency.
With a little tight throat I took the A40 motorway then A6 toward Germany after having filled the tank with diesel.

Weather was mild and traffic fluid on the motorway. I very quickly adopted a flexible driving thanks to the discovery of the speed regulator that I fixed at the minimal speed authorized on motorway, 80 Km/h.
The cab high on its four 14.00R20 wheels enabled me to dominate all the other vehicles.
Before the Nitry exit of A6, I decided to make a turning by the village of the Loges-Margueron, cradle of my family, where is my parents vault.

It had been decided, before, that I will spend the weekend at Christophe, the elder one of my nephews, who lived at that time in Maurupt-le-Montois in the department of the Marne.
Saturdays were occupied under technical discussion and under test of the vehicle.

Monday morning as of early dawn, I left to go to Dettenheim in Germany where I had appointment at 1 p.m. at UNICAT.
As of my arrival, the vehicle was dealt with by the technical team.

At the end of July, the body was finished and installed on the MAN chassis.

At the time of my visit at UNICAT on the 06/09, the vehicle was back from the painting of the body. The phase of setting of the technical equipment started.
I decided to equip the vehicle with a tool set required by my journey around the world, in particular with lifting bags.

At my visit on the 06/10, all the heating part, electric circuitry and air conditioning were in place.
During this meeting, I decided the setting of ham radio.

The following stage is programmed for week 46 : Reception of the campervan and training to technical maintenance.
