From Rocky Bayou State Park to Big Lagoon State Park then back to Panama City Beach
On 2012/06/18

I left around 10:00 to reach Big Lagoon after 135 km and two stops in Walmart and McDo, for Internet, in Destiny. The reception of the rangers and the quality of the camp-sites, partially flooded and with very aggressive red ants, justified the availabilities at the time of my reservation. First impression to be confirmed, I have time because I remain two weeks there. In the late afternoon I strolled on the boardwalk to look at the wilderness.

The next day I left to recognize the neighborhoods of Big Lagoon State Park with the hope of going to Perdido Key. I was disappointed because the bridge spanning the Old River did not have a cycle lane. The authorized speed of 45 mi and dense traffic made me give up this trip at high-risks. I reconsidered my steps to explore the wealths of the park. During more than one hour I traced a large wading bird which I saw to absorb without difficulty a fish which went down in its throat. Several of these congeneric live at the banks of the lagoon. I returned to my truck to have lunch.

During my long stay at Big Lagoon I took the rhythm to leave in the early morning to admire the sunrise and to track with my binocular extremely seldom fauna then in the late evening for the sunset and so. In the day I practiced the bicycle in the morning to go to McDo for looking at free Internet and in the afternoon I worked to organize my trip for the 45-days US visa that it remained after the installation of the dental crown in Panama City Beach.

Too far!

Before the daybreak on Friday, June 29 I left walking in the Big Lagoon SP, Sand Pine Trail, 3.5 mi & Estuary Trail, 2 mi, so 8km7 GPS. During my attentive progression, I did not see any nocturne animal, on the other hand on arrival in Big Lagoon at daybreak I observed some bird species I did not see before. This day I have the idea to make a phone the cabinet of the dentist to ensure me that the prosthesis would be delivered on time. The receptionist informed me that she had just received it. I took an appointment on Monday, July 2 instead of 09/07. Consequently I left the park to rejoin Panama City Beach on Sunday morning.

Thanks

During my stay I prepared my journey to the USA as well as to Canada by considering several scenarios taking account of the need for renewing my passport whose validity date falls at the beginning of 2014. To optimize the road plans I used, for Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi, the coordinates of Claude & Alain's bivouacs whom I warmly thank for their advice.
