From the plain of Santa Nella to the coast of the Pacific there is a stone jet, I was in Santa Cruz after having crossed the last mountainous buttresses by a twisted road. The white sand beaches start here but in this season with a cold and pricking wind in spite of the sun in a limpid blue sky there were few walkers. I passed through Monterey without to stop to station in Carmel of which Clint Eastwood was the mayor. There too the long white sand beaches were quasi deserted. At the edge of a pavement I discovered from the top of my truck a French myth, a 2CV Citroën.

Hwy 1 skirts the ocean in sumptuous escarpments beaten by undertows. It is sown by panels of prohibition  -the USA, a Land of Freedom! Big Sur the wonder of the spot points out the Brittany coasts in France as well as the West coasts in Ireland. I entered Pfeiffer State Park to spend a peaceful night but expensive.

After the expensive campground in Pfeiffer SP I found a bivouac on a small road overhanging Hwy 1 with a unobstructed lookout on the ocean.

After a stormy night the following day was glaucous with a permanent fog together with a oceanic drizzle. Nothing very favorable for the visits I jumped Hearst Castle visited in 1991. On the other hand I admired strange creatures, Elephant Seal, in noisy colony.

Throughout the coast of the Pacific Ocean sign posts recalled that it was prohibited to bivouac, kind of racket to oblige to go in campground either private, out of prices or public of State Parks, the latter without services at a prices between $25 and $40 a night! California is not a paradise for campers. Governor A. Schwarzenegger left the richest state of the USA with an abyssal deficit, muscles are not a guarantee of managerial ability.

The night was noisy caused by quads of Americans came in large numbers after the grind for letting off steam in the dunes full headlight. The hullabaloo finished around 1 am. In the early morning the beach was calm at the time of my departure for Los Angeles. Hwy 1 and Hwy 101 did not offer any interest. Mow I stopped in Malibu at the only campground of the spot, expensive and not extra. The beach, famous with TV series, was quasi deserted in this Saturday.

At the RV campground in Malibu the hostess advised me to park my truck at Pier of Santa Monica and to travel by the Bus N°10 to go and visit the centre of Los Angeles. Actually in this Sunday traffic was very sparse moreover there was an almost deserted carpark at Walt Disney Concert Hall. I thus visited the centre on foot by traversing it clockwise.

Further away the historical centre, El Pueblo de Los Angeles, was very animated by Latinos came to meditate at the Church. Olvera Street was very colored and environment was festive. I made a detour to Union Station to know the stop of the bus N°10 to return to Santa Monica.

I took a snack at Plaza of Tokyo before plunging in the contemporary art in MoCa. Making my way I passed through the LAPD and the City Hall present in a large number of TV series. Los Angeles is a conurbation very wide and made up of very typified villages. It is impossible to visit them all in a day more during the week traffic is irrational in spite of many freeway. From Santa Monica to Anaheim where the campground of my bivouac was the distance is about 87 km.
