On Sunday, May 15th I was going to consult the emergency department, UPA-Socorrinho II, following a urinary infection. The doctor made me understand that I was to go to Centro Urologico do Maranhao. On Monday, May 16th I explained to the doctor of UroCentro, fluent speaking-English, that I had contracted a turista at the time of my voyage from Santana to Belem by taking the meals on the barge during three days. I had effectively treated it with drugs from my first-aid kit. Alas the bacterium had also infected the urinary tracts, very painful. After examination and scans he prescribed me a drastic remedy during 14 days. At his request, he wanted to keep me under his control; I saw him again the following day and then on Monday, May 23th after one week of treatment. The doctor was very satisfied with the evolution of the cure. Consequently he authorized me to go again on the road to continue my trip. However he asked me to continue the treatment until the end of the fourteen days. Final decision, do never take meals on a barge due to the medical condition of the kitchen.
Before taking again the road to Salvador I fill the tanks with diesel fuel and water. Then it was long roads towards the south which roadway is often degraded and the crossed villages have many topes every 200 meters. I found a bivouac at 20km southwards from Teresina in Gas Station.
Second day of road towards the south, the road is well asphalted with long straight lines and little village. I bivouacked at the entrance of Afrânio close to Gas Station in edge of the road. Thursday May 26th was a holiday, Corpus Christi.
Third day of road towards the east to rejoin Salvador at seaside. It was still a bivouac in a gas station.
Fourth day of road mainly in the rain. However the sun made a timid appearance in seaside between Salvador and Preia do Forte where I arrived around 12:30. Of course it was a weekend and carparks were crammed, no place of free for my truck. This seaside resort is considered by the laying of the marine tortoises. Piqued I returned towards Feira de Santana to advance me towards Lençois, stage on Sunday. I bivouacked on immense Truck Parking. Fortunately truck drivers do not let turn the engines for air-conditioning and TV as in the USA.
On Sunday, May 29th was a driving morning to arrive at the Camping-Lumiar at Lençois. Since Sao Luis I had traversed approximately 2050 km in five days. Consequently I decided to have rest while remaining two days with the camping where I was alone. The temperature was pleasant with 29°C in the day.
