Canyon Itaimbezinho

In the small hour of the Monday, June 27th the fog covered the ocean which the sun did not manage to bore. Little before 9:00 I was on the point of leaving my bivouac whereas a taxi came whose driver contemplated my truck and took a picture with his smartphone. I asked him, in compensation, where I could find a cybercafé. He made me understand to follow him. What a kindness these Brazilian! After having surfed on Internet I moved in diagonal while crossing the crossroads towards a mercado for request where I could buy a can of 20 liters of purified water. Bingo, there was. A customer helped me to fill the tank while I held the funnel. Ah, these Brazilian what a obligingness! I took the road for Itaimbezinho Canyon after 22 kilometers of track in the mountain. But while arriving the guard made me understand that today the visit was closed and that it was not authorized to bivouac on the carpark. I was going to approximately 4 km further on to stop at the edge of the track at 1,031 meters high. The day was partiellemnt sunny with a light fog.

As of the opening of the Park on Tuesday, June 28th at 9:00 I walked in the Itaimbezinho Canyon. I traversed a Vértice trail of 1.240 km return which overhung the crack and the thin waterfall in this dry season.

Gramado

Then I moved towards Porto Alegre while playing truant. Thus I crossed two alpine resorts, Canela and Gramado. At the exit of the latter I warned a museum of the Sixties Beautiful American Cars.

São Lourenço do Sul

On Wednesday, June 29th I traversed the road from Igrejinha to São Lourenço do Sul in the fog and under the rain, no break at mid--day. Only while arriving on Costa Doce the visibility was better. The city, seaside resort in season, was deserted. Some rare walkers sauntered into the downtown area, but anybody on the beaches. The outside temperature was 11°C. I bivouacked in seaside.

Border

Every Thursday morning announced itself, like the day before, misty but without rain. I made a detour to go to Rio Grande which was always in the fog. I was satisfied to make supply before leaving Brazil. I continued my way while hoping to find a bivouac at seaside when the fog is raised. Alas way making along Lagoa Mirim it was only mud pit due to recent rains. I arrived thus to the border post of Brazil with Uruguay around 14:00.
