Coteau-du-Lac
Monday, July 6 was a small driving day to reach KOA campground in
Coteau-du-Lac. I threw an eye at the local historic site vis-a-vis
the border of the USA. Indeed American tried in 1815 to annex the
provinces of Canada remained loyal-ists to the crown of England. The
site shows a small diversion canal to transport goods by boats by
avoiding the rapids. Having passed too many days in Newfoundland I
decided to go directly at the border of the USA by-pass the Ottawa
capital already visited in 2011,
here.

Brockville
Tuesday, July 7 started with rain, continued with a jam from
Brockville to exit 686 of Hwy #401 to take the road #2 then with a
return to Hwy #401 at entry 661 for a duration of more than two
hours! I visited briefly two cities Brockville then Kingston
considered for their Victorian architecture. Brockville is
registered in World Heritage as being the terminal of the Rideau
Canal. Kingston was the capital of Canada during three years before
the Queen Victoria chooses the site of Ottawa. At the entry in
Kingston I found a carpark in Ontario St where I remained for the
night.

On Wednesday, July 8 I played truant while strolling on Hwy#33 going
along the coast of the Lake Ontario and by stopping on the very rare
rest areas. Prince Edward Country is a peninsula connected in the
east at Glenora by a ferry and in the west at Carrying Place by a
channel where I lunched tardily because parkings are extremely
seldom. For the bivouac I threw my reserved on … a carpark in Port
Hope.

I wished to see again the Art Gallery of Ontario, AGO, in Toronto,
here. I left Port Hope as of 7:00 to be very
early at the Yorkdale carpark where I had bivouacked in September
2011. Of course there were jams on the highway #401 as well as on
Collector. I arrived shortly after 9:00 at the carpark of Allen Rd
exit 365 at the bottom of Commuter. Alas there was a security car
which controlled the access whose driver showed me the panel below.
I tried to dialog, but without hope. Piqued I looked at Tim Hortons
to take a Hot Chocolate & a plain croissant. After reflection I gave
up entering Toronto to find a carpark close to the AGO whose
majority are out of silo. I continued my road until Brantford to see
the Chapel of Mohawks. The second disappointment, a cerberus
prohibited to take pictures inside; too bad: what the stained
glasses are splendid! I remained on the spot for the bivouac, with
the hope not to be expelled.

On Friday, July 10 I undertook long and peaceful strolling, very
slowly, at the edge of the Lake Erie, if possible. Indeed the
littoral is very often occupied by secondary houses making the
access impossible or of panels of prohibition of camping incite to
go away… Despite everything I lunched in Turkey Point vis-a-vis the
shore then I found a bivouac on a portion of unused road knowing
that a fellow took my truck in photograph, perhaps to denounce me at
the police; He came back again!.

On Saturday, July 11 I still strolled on the small roads in Ontario
also close possible of the Lake Erie by taking overland routes, hey
yes there is still. I arrived at Lakeside Campground in Wheatley
around 10:00 to remain two days there in order to prepare my entry
the USA on Monday Juillet 13th. It is surrounded by cultivated fields at the edge of cliff
above the lake. Caravans probably belong to accustomed who rent at
the year. The remainder of the ground is unoccupied. The outside
temperature was around 24°C with a light wind and a partially misty
sky.
