Le trajet d’approche jusqu’à Collioure du circuit de la Transpyrénéenne par les pistes espagnoles puis le trajet de retour depuis St-Jean-Pied-de-Port fut un parcours de découverte architecturale des monuments civils, militaires et religieux sans oublier les magnifiques paysages des Pyrénéens réalisé à l’aide du Guide Vert. Le temps imparti, retour impératif avant le lundi 1er septembre m’obligea à supprimer certaines visites essentiellement en montagne requérant une durée de trajet longue et fatigante. A la différence du nord de la France tous les édifices sont en pierre et ont résisté tant bien que mal aux vicissitudes du temps. Par-delà la religion, hors propos de ce bref rapport, je fus très impressionné par l’architecture romane des églises des petits villages ainsi que des abbayes. Il faut saluer le travail de restauration de ces monuments souvent entrepris par des bénévoles. Je souhaite que les quelques photos des pages du carnet de route inciteront à visiter cet admirable région du sud de la France avec un guide pour les commentaires architecturaux. La gastronomie ne saurait être absente de ce voyage initiatique. En complément j’ai parcouru 4132 km en 40 jours soit une moyenne de 103,3 km/j.
The way of approach up to Collioure of the Transpyrenean trail by the Spanish tracks then the back way from St-Jean-Pied-de-Port was a trip of architectural discovery of civil, military and religious monuments without forgetting the splendid landscapes of Pyrenean realized with the Green Guide Book. The assigned time, imperative return before Monday, September 1 obliged me to remove some visits in mountain primarily requiring length and tiring trip. Unlike the north of France all buildings are out of stone and resisted the vicissitudes of time and weather. Beyond the religion, except matter of this short report, I was very impressed by the Romanesque architecture of the churches in the small villages as well as abbeys. It is necessary to greet the restoration work of these monuments often undertaken by voluntary people. I wish that the few pictures of the pages of the log book will encourage to visit this admirable area in south of France with a guide book for the architectural comments. The gastronomy could not miss this initiatory journey. In complement I traversed 4132 km in 40 days that is to say an average of 103.3 km/day.
