From the 2006/01/15 to the 2006/02/04

--Four days in Germany
--Fourteen days in Paris

The departure of "the Globe" approached, I was to go to take my truck at UNICAT in Germany, then to head towards Paris in order to solve administrative problems.

My truck was at Dettenheim since the 10/10/2005 for setting up a diesel cooker and for fixing various modifications caused by the experience of the two gallops of test in West Africa and Northern Europe.
I benefited from a trip of Michel accompanied by Patrice which went there to join them in Lyon the 15/01/2006 at 11 a.m. coming from Draguignan-Les Arcs by the TGV. We arrived at Dettenheim around 6 p.m.

I remained four days at UNICAT to take delivery of installations and to improve my technical skill in order to do the service of the truck.

I left UNICAT 19/01 around 3 p.m. to go to TOURATECH at Heppenheim, exit 31 of the German A5 highway. I bought the update of TTQV version 4 and digital maps.
I took again the road around 6 p.m. to go to France with a night stop on a lay-by of the A4 highway before the exit of Phalsbourg. I had planned a two-week stay in Paris.

The occupation in Paris was divided between the complements of hardware purchase for the truck, technological as well as technical, and the solution of administrative problems involved in obtaining the seven visas for the journey to the Chinese border. The VALS agency not having been able to have a letter of invitation for Azerbaijan, I have had to go to the embassy to meet the Consul in order to have of an exemption of the LOI. He asked me to write a letter of motivation of my trip to his country.
At all events it is not certain that I have all the visas before my departure. I would know it on the 24/02.

I benefited from my Parisian stay to visit to La Maison des Français à l'Étranger, MFE. The reception of the hostesses was very cordial and very interested in my project of a trip around the world. I collected invaluable information. It is necessary to mention the many computers with a free Internet access.

Another strong time was the delivery, with delay, of a Durabook laptop computer and a BGAN Thrane & Thrane satellite modem by IEC Telecom. The publication of this page was justified by the training to use the laptop computer connected with the satellite modem.

The hardware, GPS connected to the laptop in the cockpit, and the software of navigation, TTQV 4, must enable me to follow on-line the road on digital map. The test will be carried out at the time of my trip towards MAN-Bresse on the 05/02. The report of this experiment will be presented with the next publication.

During my stay in Paris, the weather was not mild. Every night, the temperature went down under zero. In spite of sometimes negative temperatures, bicycling in Paris was pleasant with dry and sunny weather.
