Ngala Beach Resort

Monday, February 11 was a long morning drive to Ngala Beach Resort, a beautiful sandy beach where I spent four days daydreaming watching the fishermen hauling their large net filled with small fish. On Monday afternoon a heavy truckload with Dutch tourists got bogged down; after rocking under the twin rear wheels the clumsy driver managed to extract it by placing it in front of my truck obstructing my view. Of course I could not let this situation last. I vehemently informed the manager by ordering him to evacuate it. To succeed I invoked the principle, First come, First serve and the mention of the incident on the site iOverlander. After an hour the driver moved his vehicle. I received the apology from the manager; the incident was closed. During my stay I was lucky to have a sunny day without a drop of rain.

Mzuzu, Macondo Camp

Friday, February 15 the road from Ngala Beach Resort to Mzuzu Macondo Camp keeps along the lake Malawi at 480 meters of altitude before forking westwards to climb at 1336 meters of altitude during the last 25 kilometers. Mzuzu is the third city of Malawi which is a stop & go for travellers with two supermarkets for the supply in food before visiting Nyika National Park then entering Tanzania. Due to the altitude, 2300 meters, of Chelinda Campground in the park I remained two days here for my cardiac acclimatization.
