History:
The history of Singapore merges with that of
Malaysia until its exclusion of the Federation of Malaysia.
I Origins:
The history of Singapore merges with that of Malaysia until its exclusion
from the Federation of Malaysia.
--In 1963 Creation of the Federation of
Malaysia with Singapore.
--In August 1965 Singapore was excluded from the
Federation of Malaysia to have refused to extend the constitutional privilege
granted to the Malayan ethnos group. Singapore was controlled by the Prime
Minister Lee Kuan Yeu, lawyer trained in Cambridge, during 31 years.
--In 1990
Lee Kuan Yeu took his retirement while remaining “Minister Mentor”. He was
replaced temporarily by Goh Chok Tong while waiting for that his eldest son,
Lee Hsien Loong, seize the power in 2004.
II Facts:
--Population of Singapore is of approximately 4.5 million. The Chineses
account for 77%, the Malayans 14%, the Indians 7% and the remainder various
ethnos groups. The proportion of Chineses and Malays is opposite of Malaysia.
--Malayans are Muslim, Chineses are a melting of Buddhism, Confucianism and
Taoism, Indians are Hindu, and the remainder is animist and Christian.
--The Singaporean society is very westernized but the governorship by the Lee
clan is very strong.
--The economy in Singapore is a success story unceasingly renewed under the
aegis of the Lee clan. |
