Ruta-#8, rio Cuarto
On Monday, October 3rd I left the beautiful area around Villa
General Belgrano to go back in four stages to Buenos Aires in order
to finish visiting this great conurbation. On the way I stopped to
admire the immense storage reservoir and the dam. I made a detour
upstream on the ruta-#8 to find a bivouac at the edge of Rio Cuarto.

Venado Tuerto, Plaza San Martin
Long driving morning on Tuesday, October 5th on the ruta-#8 without
interest with long straight lines in a flat landscape, 110 to 125 m
high, of cereal culture with flooded fields. I arrived at Venado
Tuerto at the beginning of afternoon whose suburbs are primarily
occupied by stores and workshops of agricultural machinery. I
established my bivouac Plaza San Martin.

San Antonio de Areco
On Wednesday, October 5th I arrived at the beginning of afternoon at
San Antonio de Areco, capital of the tradition of Argentina. Indeed
on November 10th is the place of
"Dia de la Tradición"
which is the festival of the Gauchos. After having made it tour of
Plaza Arellano with its superb colonial houses I moved towards the edge
of Rio Areco where Tourist Office is to have a city map. I learned that
all Wifi connections were broken down due to the operator! Parque
Criollo on other side of the river gathers Museo Güiraldes as well
as Pulperia and Blanqueada. There would be a presentation of the
gauchos in the morning at 11:30, to follow (on Sunday!). I establish my bivouac
at the edge of water for two nights.

Buenos Aires, again
On Friday, October 7th I did the trip from San Antonio de Areco to
Buenos Aires in the rain. Consequently I visited Cementerio de la
Recoleta in the rain. While arriving I have the chance that the
apartment house manager opposite I parked my truck, proposed to me
to go up on the terrace to have a bird's eye view. What a kindness
these Argentinians! Then I traversed the alleys on a tour of
burials. Alas alone I did not discover the most famous. Then my
intention was to visit Museo Evita and Museo de Arte Latinoamericano
(Malba). But after having sought vainly a carpark I gave up these
visits to go to the bivouac Av. Lanteri, as in July. My truck
crossed the course of the 100,000 km.

On Saturday morning the October 8th I took a taxi to go to Museo
Nacional de Bellas Artes where I regaled myself to admire the great
Masters of French painting, impressionists, Cubists, fauvists,
surrealists etc. Only one missed Braque. Latin-American painting of
course was very represented but alas my culture goes back to +30.
Then I went on foot to Malba, Museo de Arte Latinoamericano which
exhibits mainly Argentinian artists, Solar, Berni and Mexicans,
Rivera and Kahlo. Finally in the afternoon I finished by Museo Evita
dedicated to Eva Duarte de Peron. Alas No Photo. I am not a fan of
Evita. As Lonely-Planet says it: "The Perons - Love `em or Hate
'em". Again the Argentinians dedicates a great recognition to her,
she is reproduced on the banknote of 100 pesos. To return to the
downtown area I took the subway, but a card should be bought because
there is no sale by ticket. I have the chance that an employee made
me pass with her card. What a kindness these Argentinian! To finish the day I
attended a representation of Argentinian Tango in Centro Cultural
Borges during one hour thirty, No Photo. The return after 21:30 to
my truck by taxi was a purple passage, the driver did not know the
AV Julieta Lanteri.

On Sunday, October 9th I left with my truck to visit the district La
Boca which was built by Italian emigrants of Genoa. The highlight is
the very coloured Caminito which recalls the Place du Tertre at
Montmartre, Paris, with in more the Argentinian tango. On Old Port
two museums attract the tourists. Proa presented a retrospective of
the painter Kazimir Malevich born in Kiev in 1878. Then the MBQM,
Museo Benito Qinquela Martin, exhibits paintings by Argentinian
artists recalling the history of the old port. I returned to my
bivouac in the afternoon.
