Pt. San Antonio Este

On Monday, October 17th on the way towards Pt. San Antonio Este I stopped in front of Tourist Office of Carmen de Patagones to publish the pages of my website, to consult my mailbox and to do a fast press review. Road RN #3 towards the south is really boring long straight lines with fields enclosed as far as the eye can see. After having made the tour of the village, to circulate there is nothing to see. On the return I found a nice bivouac in seaside.

Puerto Lobos

On Tuesday, October 18th on the way towards Pt. Lobos I made a detour to San Antonio Oeste to go to the local supermercado. I fell on a road battered and muddy, a true cesspool; all that to buy four apples and a liter of milk! Back on the RN #3 I made another detour to join the sea at Pt. Lobos, certainly the landscape is sublime and some sun rays brightened the beach and the sea.

Península Valdés, Puerto Pirámides

On Wednesday morning the October 19th after 60 km on the RP-#1 in mud I arrived at the junction with the RN-#3 to Puerto Piramidés. As of my arrival I sought an agency to go for hunting whale by boat. I bought a ticket for a tourt from 18:00 to 20:00 with the sunset. Then I found the bivouac known on the beach where I found my Swiss friends Renate & Bruno with their MAN. Hunting whale is rather disappointing because I saw especially the back of whales, actually a mother and her small. It is the ballena franca austal, southern right whale. At the fallen night I returned to my truck. The morning by visiting Centro de Visitantes I took two pictures of Tattoo, Peludo, Larger Hair Armadillo for my American friends, Olivia & Fred. Alas I did not meet this small animal at the time of my visit of the peninsula.

For Olivia & Fred, my American friends

On Thursday, October 20th I undertook a tour of Penisula Valdés in search of local fauna. The booklet praises “Las bahίas más bellas del mundo”! No whale, but sea lions, elephant seals and of course penguins. The sea elephants are softened on the beach like goatskin bottles full of water and the four penguins out of Master of hotel dress expect the visitors. The tour represents a distance of 230 km that I traversed in 8 hours, I was back to the bivouac shortly after 16:30. Altogether the day was also disappointing by a rather sparse fauna. On east-coast the most abundant population is the sheep, as in Wales.
