Chiricahua, National Monument

Yesterday it rained as from 16:00 and quickly the temperature to be dropped. Today August 17th at the Bonita Canyon campground of Chiricahua the same climatic phenomenon occurred. Arrived around 11:00 hours (Pacific Time, jet lag with France -9 hours) I visited Visitor Center then I drove from the different points of view of the park with a death in the heart not to be able to put my walking shoes due to the altitude of approximately 2000 meters. The geological structures are dramatic, eroded by the climatic conditions since million of years. I lunched at Massai point then after some walking tests I settled around 16:00 in the campground of the park.

Tombstone

The target of the day August 18th was to go closer to Tucson where I had an appointment at Mercedes-Benz at 7:00 for the routine maintenance. On the way I made two stops. The first was in Tombstone already visited the 12/4/2012 and which had not left me a great memory. My second visit improved my judgment it did not have there no tourist and the observers left their limps of naphthaline around 11:00. Of course I again used the WiFi at the library.

The second stop was the spot of bivouac on the 12/22/2012 after the repair of my Man truck in Tucson. But there is a great difference, the temperature outside and inside the cell is this day of 38°C at 18:00 and 769 meters high.

Mercedes-Benz

On Wednesday morning at Mercedes-Benz, my vehicle was dealt at around 7:30 am after my explanations, in particular the wish of Service B before entering Mexico. Then I settled in WiFi Zone with a consumption and viennoiseries offered by M-B. I recovered it around 12:00 accompanied by Stephan, a French installed in the USA and taking up a duty of responsibility. Of course I was obliged to make visit my truck with the ad hoc explanations.

Ajo, Hwy #85

Finally I left Tucson around 2:00 pm to go to Why then ito Organ Pipe Wilderness. Alas I arrived at Why around 5:00 pm, it was too late to go in the mountains. I found a bivouac at Ajo behind the Chevron gas station.

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument

Yesterday I had cancelled my way to Oragan Pipe Cactus due to my tiredness and the late hour. Today on Friday, August 20th I decided to go there to see what it acted. An inhospitable desert with a temperature of 41°C at midday. Impossible to thus make an excursion, too hot also too risky. The water outside taps do not have a screw pitch for the hose; it is necessary to fill the tanks with a can. When the wine is drawn it to drink it, to the dregs. Good, but there is a shower in the toilet block with water at temperature by the solar panels! Tomorrow will be another day.

En route road #94, CA

As of early dawn I left Organ Pipe Cactus Campground for a long road towards the border of Mexico at Tecate. I found a bivouac behind a lot of sand on the roadside. Hwy #85 crosses dramatic landscapes with jagged peaks. Then Hwy #8 traverses the desert of the south of California during which it is necessary to take its dignified suffering.
